Batna football mourns the loss of former international goalkeeper Rachid Soualhi

The sports community in Batna is mourning the passing of former international goalkeeper Rachid Soualhi, who died at the age of 78. A prominent figure in local football, the late goalkeeper represented both the city's major clubs, MSP Batna and CA Batna. He launched his career with the Mouloudia during the 1967-1968 season, where he celebrated winning the Algerian Junior Cup. His international career included joining the senior national team in 1973 and participating in the 1974 World Cup qualifiers. After retiring from play in 1980, Soualhi remained active in the sport, serving as a long-time goalkeeper coach for both local clubs and contributing to the development of new generations, alongside a brief coaching stint abroad. Widely respected for his kindness and high moral standards, he was recently honored by the association of former MSP Batna players for his distinguished career.
