The Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union has congratulated Algeria on its success in clearing all anti-personnel mines from its national territory. This recognition was formally expressed during the Council's 1371st meeting, where Algeria was encouraged to share its experience and expertise with other African countries, both bilaterally and through African Union frameworks. The PSC also noted the significant progress made toward the "Silencing the Guns in Africa" initiative by 2030. Furthermore, the Council commended the Algerian government for hosting the 2026 edition of the "Africa Amnesty Month," which focused on promoting sustainable peace, curbing the proliferation of small arms, and addressing landmine removal measures.
