In line with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algeria is implementing a comprehensive strategy to regulate essential consumer prices through the modernization of wholesale trade. The plan focuses on establishing major commercial hubs equipped to monitor inventory, financial transactions, and distribution paths, aiming to curb the impact of informal intermediaries. This approach moves beyond sporadic inspections, favoring a digital tracking system that covers products from production or import to the final consumer. The strategy also includes creating modern storage facilities to manage surplus production, strictly regulating profit margins, and curbing informal street trade. Furthermore, it aims to rehabilitate covered markets to provide a structured framework that enhances market transparency and safeguards citizen purchasing power.
