Africa CDC Director-General Jean Kaseya has called for intensified cooperation across the continent to combat the ongoing Ebola outbreak. With the Democratic Republic of Congo remaining the epicenter, having recorded approximately 9,600 cases and 4,600 deaths as of October 18, regional coordination is deemed critical. African health ministers are set to meet on October 28 to enhance cross-border response strategies and surveillance in both public and private medical facilities. While nine cases are under monitoring in Kenya and 44 contacts are being tracked in Nigeria, Kaseya noted that the situation is currently being managed. Furthermore, he emphasized the need for sustained vigilance in Uganda, despite its official declaration that the outbreak has ended, to prevent potential cross-border transmission.
