Combating Speculation: Authorities crack down on efforts to disrupt food supply
Recent directives by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune aimed at curbing food price inflation and fighting speculation are facing organized opposition. Following a Council of Ministers meeting, the government launched an inquiry into the distribution of imported meat and initiated a plan to regulate intermediaries in the agricultural supply chain. Furthermore, the Prosecutor General at the Algiers Court has ordered urgent investigations after viral social media footage showed individuals discarding food products to artificially create market shortages and drive up prices. The state has signaled a zero-tolerance policy against these criminal acts, vowing to protect citizens' purchasing power and neutralize attempts to destabilize the country.
