Vehicle Technical Inspection in Algeria: Deadlines, Fees, and Requirements

The National Establishment for Technical Automobile Control (ENACTA) has clarified the regulations concerning vehicle inspections in Algeria. Private cars under six years old must undergo an inspection every two years, with the interval shifting to annually once the vehicle exceeds six years. Professional vehicles, including taxis, driving school cars, and commercial transport, are subject to more frequent intervals, sometimes requiring checks every six months.

Inspection fees depend on the vehicle category and payment method, with standard private car fees starting at 1,268.84 DA for cash payments. Beyond periodic visits, additional inspections are mandatory during ownership transfers or re-registration. Owners are required to bring their vehicle registration documents and previous inspection reports. The inspection covers essential safety systems such as brakes, steering, lighting, and exhaust emissions to ensure road compliance.
