National Gendarmerie issues public appeal regarding currency exchange fraud suspects
The Algiers regional Gendarmerie group has issued a public appeal for information regarding two suspects involved in fraud and money laundering. The criminal network targeted Algerian expatriates in France by offering fake currency exchange services. Victims were deceived into handing over Algerian dinars locally, under false promises of receiving the equivalent in euros while in France, after which the suspects would cease all communication. The Gendarmerie is urging any victims or witnesses to report to the public prosecutor at the Dar El Beïda court or to any local law enforcement unit to file a complaint or provide testimony.
