Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, detailed the 2027 sector budget proposal to the National People's Assembly's finance committee, confirming that there are no current plans to increase electricity tariffs. The proposed 123.4 billion dinar budget focuses on expanding power and gas grids, subsidizing bills in southern and highland regions, and advancing renewable energy projects. Arkab highlighted the stability of the national power grid during the 2026 summer peak demand, supported by a production capacity of over 28,000 megawatts. The strategy also includes critical infrastructure projects to power major mining operations, investments in clean hydrogen, and solar energy initiatives, all aimed at ensuring long-term energy security and supporting national economic growth.
