Importing vehicles under 3 years old: The mandatory conformity inspection process
In Algeria, private individuals importing vehicles less than three years old must complete a mandatory conformity inspection before they can obtain a registration certificate. This verification, performed by either mining administration officials or certified private experts, ensures that the vehicle meets local technical and safety standards. This procedure must be finalized within the one-month validity period of the customs transit document. Non-compliant vehicles must be re-exported at the importer's expense. To manage the high volume of requests, the government has deployed additional certified experts and introduced an online appointment system to streamline the process for citizens.
