Real Estate in Spain: Algerians Lead Foreign Buyers in Alicante
Despite a general decline in foreign real estate acquisitions in Spain during the first quarter of 2026, with 62,327 transactions recorded—a 13% drop from the previous year—Algerians remain a significant presence in the market, particularly in Alicante. In this city, Algerians top the list of foreign buyers with 104 properties purchased, although this is a decrease from 2025 figures. Nationally, Moroccans are the most frequent foreign buyers across Spain. Regarding expenditure, the average property price for Algerian buyers was 132,079 euros. While this is significantly lower than the average spend of European buyers, it remains substantially higher than the average expenditure of Moroccan buyers, which stands at 53,257 euros. Meanwhile, the average price per square meter in Spain has risen by 9.4% to reach 2,644 euros.
