Oran: 131 breast cancer cases identified through expanded screening efforts
From January to September 2026, health services in Oran conducted 4,100 mammograms, identifying 131 cases of breast cancer, most of which were diagnosed early. To reach underserved populations, medical teams deployed mobile units to 110 areas, providing awareness to 48,000 women. The prevention program also included 3,192 breast ultrasounds and 15,172 cervical smears. Additionally, a "Pink Marathon" took place at the Mohamed-Ben-Ahmed Convention Center with 1,500 participants to encourage screening and solidarity. Officials emphasize that early detection can lead to recovery rates exceeding 90%.
