Defending champion Mamelodi Sundowns has been knocked out of the African Champions League during the second preliminary round. Following a goalless draw in the first leg, the South African side drew 1-1 at home against Angola's Williete, failing to reach the group stage for the first time in 12 years. Although Tashreeq Matthews scored in the 11th minute, Christopher Mabululu leveled the match in the 49th minute after capitalizing on a defensive blunder. Despite the offensive substitutions made by the Portuguese manager Miguel, the team could not find a winning goal. The club is now set to face USM Alger in the CAF Super Cup final on November 8 in Pretoria.
