Rabat: Security crackdown on protest supporting Sahrawi political prisoners

A protest held by the families of Sahrawi political prisoners on hunger strike was forcibly dispersed by Moroccan security forces in Rabat this Monday. According to human rights groups, at least six activists, including Hassana Douihi and Ibrahim Babit, were arrested, and several protesters sustained injuries. The demonstrators raised flags of the Sahrawi Republic and called for an end to the isolation of the 'Gdeim Izik' group, who have been on hunger strike for 20 days protesting their prison conditions and lack of access to family visits. Concerns are rising regarding the deteriorating health of the prisoners as their demands remain unaddressed.
