Council of Ministers: President Tebboune tackles market speculation and infrastructure projects

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired a Council of Ministers meeting focused on market regulation, railway infrastructure, and water security. To curb inflation and protect consumer purchasing power, the President ordered strict oversight of commercial intermediaries and mandated a price-capping mechanism for essential goods, including meat and vegetables. An investigation into the meat import sector has been launched to address speculative practices. On the development front, the President reviewed the progress of mining railway projects, such as the line connecting Bled El Hadba to the port of Annaba, and the expansion of the rail network into the southern regions. Furthermore, the meeting prioritized the connection of Chlef, Mostaganem, and Tlemcen to seawater desalination plants, while emphasizing the conservation of groundwater resources.
