An Algerian technical mission, featuring experts from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, the Hydrocarbon Regulatory Authority, and Sonatrach, was dispatched to Niger from October 12 to 19, 2026. The deployment followed an incident at the "Gomery W-8" oil well in the Agadem region. The delegation held discussions with Niger's ministers of Petroleum and Environment to evaluate the situation and implement urgent measures to contain environmental damage. At the end of the mission, Niger's President, General Abdourahamane Tiani, met with the delegation to convey his thanks to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for the rapid response and technical assistance, highlighting the strong ties of brotherhood and solidarity between the two nations in the energy sector.
