Algeria and South Africa launch new ministerial mechanism to boost ties

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune held talks on Thursday with the South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola. During the visit, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and his South African counterpart signed an agreement creating a ministerial follow-up mechanism designed to ensure the effective implementation of bilateral accords and high-level committee decisions. The two sides adopted a joint statement outlining their strategic partnership priorities, including energy, mining, and technology. Discussions also served to prepare for the upcoming eighth session of the High Bilateral Commission in Pretoria. This initiative reflects both countries' commitment to expanding economic cooperation and aligning their positions on regional and international issues.
