A permanent committee for the monitoring and processing of import requests has been established under the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, as detailed in the latest issue of the Official Gazette. The committee is chaired by the Minister of Foreign Trade and includes the Minister of Finance, the Governor of the Bank of Algeria, and leaders from the ABEF and the CREA. Its mandate involves evaluating import applications, particularly for production and service-related needs, while prioritizing sensitive goods to ensure supply chain continuity. Furthermore, the committee is tasked with analyzing digital platform data to streamline procedures and will provide weekly activity reports to the Prime Minister.
