On October 21, the government, chaired by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, reviewed a new system for measuring industrial integration rates. This mechanism aims to shift focus from simple assembly to genuine local production for light vehicles, heavy trucks, and smartphones. By precisely calculating the actual material components and industrial processes performed within Algeria, the government intends to strengthen local industry and reduce import costs. This initiative builds on efforts initiated in February 2026, which established a national reference framework for integration. Currently under review, this proposal complements existing regulations that require manufacturers to meet progressive integration targets to benefit from tax and customs incentives. Future regulatory texts will define the specific implementation methods.
