Domestic Trade budget to increase by over 18% in the 2027 Finance Bill
The Minister of Domestic Trade and National Market Regulation, Amel Abdellatif, presented the 2027 sector budget to the National People's Assembly's finance committee, featuring a 18.06% increase in payment credits to 153.38 billion dinars. This funding hike is designed to strengthen regulatory capabilities, administrative modernization, and market oversight. During the session, lawmakers expressed concerns over rising prices for fruits and vegetables and questioned the measures to curb illegal trade practices. The 2027 Finance Bill also includes an extension of tax and customs exemptions until December 31, 2029, for essential goods, including meat, legumes, coffee, and oils, as part of a strategy to ensure market stability and protect consumer purchasing power.
