On Thursday, the public prosecutor at the Sidi M’hamed economic and financial court requested 10-year prison sentences and a one-million dinar fine for three former presidents of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF): Kheireddine Zetchi, Djahid Zefizef, and Charaf-Eddine Amara. The case centers on corruption allegations involving equipment contracts with Adidas and agreements with a Tunisian entity. Several other administrative officials are also facing significant prison terms. The Treasury’s legal representative has requested 900 million dinars in compensation. Throughout the trial, the former FAF leaders denied all charges, including misuse of authority and embezzlement of public funds. The proceedings highlighted discrepancies in accounts between the former executives and the ex-secretary general regarding the approval process of various international service contracts.
