The «Baladna Algeria» Project: A Strategic Pillar for Food Security

During a field visit to Adrar, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Sid Ali Khaldi, highlighted that the joint Algerian-Qatari «Baladna Algeria» project serves as an integrated model combining farming with industrial processing. Focused on producing powdered milk, meat, and animal feed, the investment is designed to cut import costs and create local employment opportunities. The ministry is providing technical support and veterinary oversight to ensure the project's success. The ultimate objective is to transform Southern Algeria into a major hub for agricultural investment to bolster national food sovereignty. The minister inspected construction sites for the milk powder factory, cattle quarantine facilities, and corn cultivation areas.
