The wilaya of El Tarf is expanding investment in integrated aquaculture to improve fish production and agricultural yields. Local authorities have granted five licenses to farmers to utilize irrigation basins for fish farming. To support this initiative, over 300 farmers have received professional training in modern techniques, in partnership with the Technical School of Fishing in El Kala. This model allows farmers to use water enriched with organic matter from fish breeding to irrigate crops, thereby improving soil fertility and reducing reliance on chemical fertilizers. Recent field assessments covered 22 agricultural sites, including ongoing projects focused on red tilapia breeding, aiming to strengthen food security and generate new rural job opportunities.
