Algeria Advances in Implementing National Artificial Intelligence Strategy

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, chaired the fifth multisectoral meeting focused on the implementation of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. During the session, thematic committees presented progress reports on key areas. The data committee outlined plans for infrastructure and governance, while the finance committee discussed public funding and partnerships with economic entities. A significant initiative involves developing a language model for Algerian tax legislation, expected to be completed within four months. Furthermore, plans for a national doctoral school in AI were introduced, with a recruitment competition for 102 positions set for institutions in Algiers, Bejaia, and Sidi Bel Abbes. International cooperation efforts are being coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a new national research program dedicated to AI is scheduled to launch in November.
