Algeria marks the anniversary of the October 17 massacres with a minute of silence

In observance of National Migration Day, several Algerian government ministers held a minute of silence this Saturday to honor the martyrs of the October 17, 1961 massacres, in accordance with a directive from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The tribute took place at various ministries, including the Ministry of Mujahideen, Health, Pharmaceutical Industry, and National Solidarity, involving government officials and staff. Similar events were organized across the country to mark the 65th anniversary of the peaceful demonstrations in Paris, which were met with brutal colonial repression. These acts of remembrance reflect the Algerian state's commitment to honoring the historical sacrifices made by the Algerian diaspora in their quest for freedom and independence.
