New regulatory framework for private schools in Algeria

A recent executive decree, published in the 71st issue of the Official Gazette, establishes new operating guidelines for private educational institutions in Algeria. The regulation mandates the exclusive use of national curricula and strictly prohibits the teaching of foreign educational programs. While schools may offer additional pedagogical activities, these require prior authorization from the Minister of National Education. The decree also requires schools to formalize their relationship with parents through a written schooling contract, which must outline rights, duties, services like transport and catering, and conflict resolution procedures. Furthermore, private schools are now required to publicly disclose their tuition fees for each grade level at least three months before the start of the academic year.
