The Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Omar Rekkache, confirmed that the Sokon vehicle manufacturing plant in Batna is set to begin production in January 2027. With an investment totaling nearly 9.8 billion dinars, the facility will focus on utility vehicles and trucks. The project is expected to generate 450 direct jobs in its initial phase, eventually reaching 1,350 positions. Aiming for an annual output of up to 60,000 vehicles, the company has set a roadmap to gradually increase local integration rates to 60%. Plans for future expansion cover an additional 17 hectares, incorporating dedicated painting and welding units. Rekkache commended the local authorities for their efforts in facilitating the project, noting that it represents a key pillar in the nation's strategy to advance the mechanical industry.
