France: One dead and several injured in racist attack in Trappes
A deadly shooting occurred on Friday, October 23, in the city of Trappes, west of Paris, resulting in one fatality and four injuries. The mayor of the city described the incident as a racist attack, suggesting it may have been driven by anti-Muslim sentiment. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez, who visited the area where some victims of foreign descent were targeted, explicitly labeled the shooting as an act of terrorism. The gunman was arrested while carrying an automatic weapon and tear gas grenades. According to police, the suspect has a criminal record but was not previously known to local intelligence services. The national anti-terrorism prosecutor's office has taken charge of the investigation.
