The Algerian Interprofessional Office of Cereals (OAIC) has finalized a deal to import 600,000 tonnes of soft wheat at a price ranging from $326 to $326.5 per tonne, cost and freight included. This purchase follows an acquisition of 500,000 tonnes made just a month prior at a lower price bracket. Traders suggest the shipment could arrive from various countries, including Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Argentina. Delivery schedules are set for December, though logistics for Australian or South American wheat may require additional time. As one of the world's top three cereal importers, Algeria plans to bring in 8.5 million tonnes during the 2026-2027 campaign to meet national demand for subsidized flour and bread.
