Oran's 'Blouza' takes center stage at the National Crafts Exhibition in Chlef

The National Crafts and Traditional Dress Exhibition, held at the National Public Museum of Chlef, has drawn large crowds interested in the evolution of the Oranian 'Blouza'. The display showcases eight distinct models spanning 120 years, highlighting the transition from traditional 'majboud' embroidery to modern designs that preserve the dress's heritage. Heritage researcher Fatiha Lekbad, involved in the UNESCO nomination process for the garment, explained how the style has adapted to modern tastes while maintaining its authenticity. In addition to the dresses, the exhibition features traditional headpieces like the 'chadda'. Featuring 33 participants from 10 provinces, the event serves as a platform to promote the dress and explore training opportunities, with activities running until Thursday.
