Algeria: Digital platform and mobile app launched to monitor markets and protect consumers

The Ministry of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation has introduced a new digital platform and mobile application designed for citizens to report commercial violations directly. These tools are intended to monitor irregularities such as unjustified price hikes, breaches of hygiene standards, and issues affecting consumer safety. This project follows the directives issued by the President on October 18, which call for a decentralized system to conduct daily monitoring of prices for essential goods. During a coordination meeting with regional directors, Minister Amel Abdellatif emphasized the importance of intensifying field inspections and implementing a 'participatory control' model, empowering citizens to help curb malpractice and protect the purchasing power of the public.
