Algeria's liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports saw a decline in 2026, reaching 1.57 million tonnes in the third quarter compared to 2.14 million tonnes during the same period in 2025. This 27% drop marks the lowest quarterly volume since 2013. For the first nine months of 2026, exports totaled 6.02 million tonnes, down 13% year-on-year. Factors behind this trend include increased domestic electricity consumption, reduced supply to liquefaction plants, and scheduled maintenance at the Arzew complex in August. Meanwhile, pipeline gas exports to Europe remained steady at 78 million cubic meters per day. Turkey remains the largest importer, accounting for 45% of total volumes, followed by France and Italy, while Croatia saw a significant rise in shipments.
