Hassiba Ben Bouali University in Chlef has introduced the nation's first smart library platform, utilizing artificial intelligence to modernize research access. Launched at the Ouled Fares university campus, the initiative aligns with government goals to integrate the expertise of the Algerian diaspora, having been developed by local engineers alongside AI expert Abdelkader Metalis, who resides in Germany. The platform currently hosts 2,000 digital items, including doctoral theses, and leverages AI for automated summarization, text verification, and multilingual research queries. University officials confirmed that the digitization process remains ongoing, with a focus on preserving unique and high-demand works. Furthermore, the Director General of the financial investment company at the University of Algiers 3 is exploring potential investment opportunities to scale the project. Access to these advanced tools will be managed through personal accounts for a nominal fee.
