Moroccan security forces violently dispersed a peaceful protest in Rabat this morning, held in support of Sahrawi political prisoners from the Gdeim Izik group who are on a hunger strike. Seven Sahrawi students were arrested during the crackdown: Hassana Douihi, Ibrahim Babite, Mohamed El Mourabit, Khaled Boufriyoua, Aziz El Ouahedi, El Houssein Chiheb, and Salaheddine Essabar. Reports indicate several injuries and fainting cases among the participants, including activist Minina, mother of prisoner Bachir Boutenkiza. Despite the intervention, protesters raised the flag of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and chanted slogans demanding independence and expressing support for the Polisario Front.
