The Miloud Hadefi Olympic Complex in Oran officially began hosting the Senior Fencing World Cup (sabre) on Thursday. A total of 328 athletes from 33 different countries are competing in the event. The opening day featured the men's qualifying rounds with 173 fencers, including 12 Algerians, while the women's qualifications are scheduled for Friday with 155 participants, including 10 Algerians. The main draw, using a direct elimination format, will take place on Saturday. The tournament concludes on Sunday with team competitions and the awards ceremony. This stage serves as a significant opportunity for Algerian fencers to compete at an international level and improve their global rankings.
