President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has declared 2027 a milestone year for Algeria's economic shift, emphasizing the state's dual commitment to local production growth and social welfare. During a meeting with business leaders, the President highlighted the transition from an import-dependent model to a productive economy, where the private sector accounts for over 85%. He noted significant progress in curbing imports, ending fuel purchases from abroad, and achieving domestic self-sufficiency in pharmaceuticals and essential crops. Looking ahead, the implementation of a national one-stop-shop for investment and key industrial projects aims to boost non-hydrocarbon exports. The President reaffirmed the strength of the national economy, dismissing pessimistic international forecasts and pledging continued development alongside fiscal discipline.
