The 2027 Finance Bill, approved by the Council of Ministers on October 4, introduces measures to ensure the steady supply of basic food products while limiting price surges. These policies, which include tax exemptions and tariff reductions, are extended until December 31, 2029. Covered items include red and white meats, coffee, edible oil, pulses, rice, eggs, and poultry. Specifically, customs duties on imported livestock and fresh meat are maintained at a reduced rate of 5%, while green coffee and crude oil benefit from VAT exemptions. The government emphasizes the need to support domestic farmers and crack down on illegal price speculation to protect citizens' purchasing power. Furthermore, manufacturers are encouraged to increase the use of local raw materials to strengthen the national supply chain.
