Since 2023, foreign tourists have been able to obtain a visa upon arrival to explore Algeria's Grand South. This program, covering 24 designated provinces, requires travelers to book their trip through a certified local travel agency. The five-step procedure involves selecting an authorized agency, booking a qualified circuit, submitting documents via the ministry's digital portal, receiving a QR-coded boarding authorization, and paying the visa fee at the border. Current visa costs range from 5,000 to 50,000 DZD depending on the trip length, although the 2027 draft finance bill proposes a new simplified structure with a maximum fee of 20,000 DZD for stays up to 30 days. Approximately 39,000 tourists from 120 nations have utilized this system to date.
