The Official Gazette has announced the formation of a new permanent committee tasked with reviewing and processing import requests. Led by the minister responsible for foreign trade or their representative, the committee includes members from the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Algeria, the Association of Banks and Financial Institutions, and the Algerian Economic Renewal Council. The body is responsible for evaluating each import application on a case-by-case basis. It is also mandated to prioritize the urgent processing of sensitive or essential products to ensure a steady supply for the national market and prevent disruptions to production operations. This initiative is designed to improve inter-sectoral coordination and strengthen the oversight of import activities.
