Niamey condemns France's 'unacceptable' expulsion of two Nigerien diplomats

Nigerien authorities have strongly denounced France's decision to expel two staff members from the Nigerien embassy in Paris, labeling the move as an act of dangerous ingratitude. Justice Minister Alio Daouda stated that one of the individuals is an officer who suffered severe injuries and limb amputation while serving in a joint mission with the French military against Boko Haram in 2014. Niamey expressed outrage that officer Abdoul Razak Ibrahim Moussa Touré and his family were forced to leave France, arguing that his past service alongside French forces deserved protection rather than expulsion. This event highlights the deepening diplomatic crisis between the two countries, which has included the termination of military agreements and the withdrawal of French troops since July 2023.
