Tindouf: Criminal network dismantled for forging documents to facilitate illegal migration

On October 27, the Criminal Court of Dar El Beida will try nine defendants involved in a major forgery scheme aimed at obtaining Algerian identity documents for African migrants. The network, which allegedly involved municipal employees in Tindouf, provided fake birth certificates and biometric documents for fees of up to 200,000 dinars per file. The investigation began in April 2025, following the arrest of two individuals at a biometric service center. Authorities discovered that the documents were absent from paper records but had been manipulated within the digital system. The suspects are facing serious charges, including forgery of official documents by public officials, abuse of office, criminal conspiracy, and facilitating the illegal stay of foreign nationals.
