Former FAF officials trial: Prosecution seeks heavy prison sentences

The trial of former Algerian Football Federation (FAF) officials reached a critical phase at the Sidi M’hamed court this Thursday. Former president Kheireddine Zetchi testified regarding his administration's financial and operational decisions. He defended the partnership with the Tunisian agency Concorde Voyages, citing a lack of local alternatives, and explained the nature of the deals involving the supplier Adidas. The court also reviewed the salary status of former national team manager Amine Labdi. Following the testimonies, the prosecutor requested sentences of up to 10 years in prison and significant fines for the defendants, while the civil party requested damages. The court session was adjourned, with defense lawyers scheduled to present their arguments on Sunday. All defendants are presumed innocent until a final court ruling is delivered.
