Draft Finance Law 2027: New measures to protect purchasing power and stabilize prices
The Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, Amel Abdellatif, presented the 2027 budget priorities to the Parliamentary Finance Committee. A key focus is protecting citizen purchasing power, with 120 billion dinars earmarked to stabilize prices for sugar, soybean oil, and coffee. The draft law also aims to regulate commercial intermediaries and cap profit margins. Fiscal incentives, including tax and customs duty exemptions on meat, legumes, and rice, are extended until 2029. Notably, soybean oil importers are now required to transition toward local production by the end of 2029. The ministry's budget for 2027 will increase by 18% to 153.38 billion dinars, enhancing market monitoring and supply chains, particularly for the southern regions. Additionally, proactive measures are being implemented to ensure a steady supply of basic goods throughout the upcoming month of Ramadan.
