New regulatory framework for private schools in Algeria

The 71st issue of the Official Gazette has introduced an executive decree establishing new criteria for the accreditation and operation of private educational institutions in Algeria. Under these regulations, private schools are strictly required to use national curricula, textbooks, and pedagogical materials, with a complete ban on teaching foreign programs. Schools must also submit a performance contract to local education authorities. This move aims to address past administrative and technical shortcomings by ensuring that new school openings comply with the national school mapping. Furthermore, the government is incentivizing the establishment of specialized private institutions focusing on modern scientific fields, such as artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and cybersecurity.
