On Wednesday, Algeria held two significant diplomatic meetings focused on regional stability. In Algiers, the Nigerien Minister of Defense, Salifou Modi, signed a military cooperation protocol. Simultaneously, a meeting of the committee for the development of border regions with Tunisia took place in El Oued. These efforts aim to combat cross-border criminal networks involved in drug trafficking, arms smuggling, and human trafficking. Algeria’s strategy combines security measures with economic development to address the root causes of instability. This proactive approach follows recent security incidents, including the neutralization of a foreign-led destabilization plot, reinforcing the necessity of close collaboration with Tunisia and Niger to safeguard national and regional borders against emerging threats.
