Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and his South African counterpart, Ronald Lamola, have signed an agreement to launch a ministerial mechanism tasked with monitoring the implementation of bilateral commitments. This initiative follows the ministerial meeting focused on the outcomes of the seventh session of the Joint High Commission, which took place in Algiers in December 2024. The new mechanism aims to ensure the effective field execution of existing agreements, boosting strategic cooperation in vital sectors such as energy, mining, manufacturing, and technology. The two parties also adopted a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to deepening their strategic partnership and regional coordination, while initiating preparations for the upcoming eighth session to be held in Pretoria.
