The potential resumption of Russian gas shipments to Europe has surfaced in recent diplomatic discussions. According to reports, US envoys, including Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, discussed the possibility of reopening Russian pipelines during a visit to Kyiv, a proposal that faced resistance from European representatives. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated that one of the Nord Stream pipelines remains intact, emphasizing that restoring supplies is a decision for European partners to make. The Kremlin continues to call for accountability regarding the 2022 pipeline sabotage. Furthermore, Novak warned that further restrictions on Russian gas could exacerbate energy market instability and drive up prices for consumers. Despite the political divide, Russia has continued to supply the European market with liquefied natural gas, with volumes for the first nine months of 2026 exceeding those recorded during the same period in 2025.
