Health Minister Mohamed Seddik Aït Messaoudene announced the creation of 28,329 new financial positions within the healthcare sector as part of the 2027 draft finance bill. While presenting the budget to the National People's Assembly, the Minister stated that these roles will primarily support public health institutions through the hiring of specialists, general practitioners, nursing staff, and midwives. The sector's budget has seen an 8.64% increase compared to 2026, reaching 1.138 billion Algerian dinars, covering prevention, training, and management programs. The investment plan involves 363 new projects focused on building and equipping medical facilities. Additionally, new legislative measures aim to simplify the procurement of radiotherapy equipment and maintenance services, ultimately improving care for cancer patients and reducing treatment waiting times.
