Algeria: Judicial investigations launched into organized food waste

The Prosecutor General at the Algiers Court has ordered comprehensive and urgent judicial investigations following the circulation of videos depicting individuals dumping consumable food and vegetables in isolated areas. These actions, aimed at creating artificial shortages to fuel market speculation, are being investigated under the supervision of the National Pole for Combating Organized Crime. The inquiries have successfully identified those involved, including instigators and financiers, while uncovering the storage and distribution networks behind these operations. The Public Prosecution stated that these acts constitute a direct attack on food security and the national economy. Perpetrators will face the full extent of the law. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report similar incidents, emphasizing that protecting the nation's food supply is a shared responsibility between the state and society.
