The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has called for urgent global support to contain the ongoing Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak. The appeal follows Nigeria's confirmation of its first case in Abuja, involving a woman who arrived from Uganda and is currently in isolation. This development makes Nigeria the fourth African nation affected by the virus, alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and Kenya. Africa CDC Director-General Jean Kaseya described the outbreak as the most geographically widespread in the virus's history. With mortality rates nearing 50% in the DRC, Kaseya urged the international community to provide immediate funding, medical supplies, and trained personnel to prevent further loss of life.
