Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, led a coordination meeting to develop a new legislative framework for construction and development within forest areas. This initiative is in direct response to instructions from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, issued following the forest fires that affected several central and eastern provinces last August. The draft law focuses on establishing technical standards for buildings and development rules in interface zones between residential areas and forests to ensure the protection of lives and properties. The Minister expressed appreciation for the inter-ministerial committee’s efforts in completing the draft within the required timeframe to bolster national fire safety systems.
